Ceredigion Museum 'New Approaches' Project 

Evaluation of a £1.3 million capital project, which would transform the Ceredigion Museum and Aberystwyth Tourist Information Centre.


The aim of the evaluation commission was to:


  • Devise an evaluation framework for the project in consultation with project staff using Heritage Lottery Fund and Happy Museum guidelines. 
  • Provide resources for staff and volunteers to gather data to meet requirements of the evaluation framework including the impact and benefit of activities on participants.
  • Provide data to feed into Heritage Lottery Fund and Happy Museum and other funders’ progress reports. 
  • Analyse all the data to produce a final project evaluation report.
  • Present findings of final evaluation report to staff and stakeholders.



Feasibility Study for The Upper Llynfi Valley Heat Network Project

Carreg Las project managed the study into whether a “mine water” heat network was a viable option that could be successfully implemented in the village of Caerau in the County Borough of Bridgend.


The work was commissioned by Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC) and was carried out by a consortium of seven partners and led by the Geoenvironmental Research Centre (GRC), Cardiff University. The project was divided into the following tasks:


  • Ground exploration, 
  • The development of a heat generation model, 
  • An assessment of the financial viability of the scheme, 
  • A comprehensive review of housing type in the study area and 
  • An engagement strategy. 


Redevelopment of the Watercourse at the former British Site, Talywain

Torfaen County Borough Council (TCBC) appointed Carreg Las, in collaboration with Loxley Consultancy, to carry out monitoring and evaluation of the Redevelopment of the Watercourse at the former British Site, Talywain. 

 

The project was funded through the Welsh Government Rural Development Programme, Enabling Natural Resources and Well-being (ENRaW) under the ‘Co-Operation & Supply Chain Development Scheme’.


The evaluation was focussed on Phase 1 of The British Development Plan, which is being delivered in two stages:

  • Stage 1 - Technical Site Investigation and Detailed Design 
  • Stage 2 - Principal Construction & Defects
